First Time Denture Wearer? Here’s How to Get Used to Them

Tips for Eating with Port St Lucie Dentures

Getting your first set of dentures is both exciting and challenging. Port St. Lucie dentures represent the chance of recovering your quality of life: eating all your favorite foods, speaking with ease, and smiling confidently. On the other hand, chances are high this shift won’t happen right away.

Dentures take a little time to get used to, but luckily, there are certain things you can do to speed up this process.

Tips for Speaking with Port St Lucie Dentures

3 Key Tips to Get Used to Dentures Faster

1. Practice Speaking Daily

Dentures may slightly alter your speech at first. To prevent this from affecting your confidence, practice speaking with them for 10–15 minutes daily. You can read books, newspapers, or even ads aloud, focusing on tricky words and going over phrases slowly and clearly.

2. Start with Soft Foods

Chewing with new dentures takes practice. Begin with soft foods like mashed potatoes, eggs, yogurt, or cooked veggies. Cut everything into smaller pieces and chew slowly on both sides of your mouth.

As comfort grows, you can gradually reintroduce tougher textures.

3. Wear Them Consistently

You may initially feel like giving up on dentures, but the more you wear them, the faster your mouth adjusts.

Wear them during the day, as instructed by your dentist, and don’t take them out too often during the adjustment period.
