A Simple Guide to Full and Partial Dentures for Tooth Replacement

Image-of-Treasure-Coast-Dentures

Choosing between full and partial dentures depends on how many teeth you need to replace and your long-term oral health goals. When exploring Treasure Coast Dentures, understanding the difference between full dentures and partial removable dentures is essential. Each option is designed to restore your smile, but the right choice depends on your specific dental needs.

Understanding Full vs Partial Dentures

What Are Full Dentures?

Full dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth. They rest on the gums and are ideal for patients who have lost all teeth in the upper or lower jaw.

What Are Partial Removable Dentures?

Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. They attach to existing teeth and fill in gaps, helping maintain alignment and function.

Key Differences to Consider

Function and Fit

  • Full dentures: Best for complete tooth loss
  • Partial dentures: Support remaining natural teeth
  • Both improve chewing and speech

Maintenance and Comfort

Full dentures require proper cleaning and occasional adjustments. Partial dentures are typically more stable due to natural tooth support but still need regular care.

Cost and Longevity

Partial dentures are often more affordable upfront, while full dentures may require more adjustments over time depending on gum changes.

Choosing the Right Option

Your dentist will evaluate your oral health, bone structure, and remaining teeth to recommend the best solution. Lifestyle, comfort, and budget also play important roles in your decision.
