Daily Denture Care Tips

Caring for your dentures is simple, but it’s important to follow your dentist’s recommendations to keep them in good condition.

Clean Your Dentures Every Day

Brush your dentures daily using a soft-bristled denture brush and a denture cleanser. Avoid regular toothpaste, as it may be too abrasive and can scratch the denture surface.

Daily cleaning helps remove:

  • Food particles
  • Plaque buildup
  • Surface stains
  • Odor-causing bacteria

Be sure to rinse your dentures thoroughly before wearing them again.

Don’t Forget Your Gums

Even if you wear full dentures, gently brushing your gums, tongue, and the roof of your mouth each day helps remove bacteria and promotes healthy circulation. It’s also recommended to remove your dentures at night to allow your gums to rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should dentures be replaced or relined?

Dentures typically need to be relined every few years as your gums and jawbone naturally change shape. Most dentures also need replacement after several years due to normal wear. Your dentist will evaluate the fit during routine checkups and recommend adjustments when needed.
