How Long Will My Dental Bridge Last?

dental bridges fort pierce

If you’ve recently gotten a dental bridge (or are planning to get one), you might be wondering how long it’s going to stick around. After all, it’s a big step toward restoring your smile. The good news is dental bridges in Fort Pierce are built to be strong and durable.

The Average Lifespan of a Dental Bridge

On average, a dental bridge can last anywhere from 5 to 15 years, and in many cases, even longer. The exact lifespan depends on a few factors: your oral hygiene routine, the material of the bridge, and your dental habits (yes, even that ice-chewing habit matters!).

Does the Type of Bridge Matter?

Yes! The type and location of your dental bridge play a role in how long it lasts. Porcelain-fused-to-metal bridges tend to be more durable than all-ceramic ones. Also, bridges placed in the front of your mouth usually last longer than those in the back, since they’re not exposed to as much chewing pressure.

Tips to Make Your Bridge Last Longer

As with anything else in your mouth, dental bridges in Fort Pierce need a little TLC to go the distance. Here’s how:

  • Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste
  • Floss daily, especially around and under the bridge
  • Use a water flosser or floss threader for those hard-to-reach spots
  • Visit your dentist regularly for cleanings and checkups

These habits can significantly extend the life of your bridge and protect the supporting teeth underneath.
