Everything You Need to Know About Full Dentures

How are Full Dentures Prepared?

The dentist must prepare the dentures before extracting any remaining teeth from the jaw. Before any extractions are done, the teeth will be captured in impressions. Once the impressions are taken, the laboratory will get them along with the dentures’ color, specs, and the teeth’s imprints. When everything is ready, the specialist will try these on the patient and make any required modifications to guarantee a good fit.

They consist of 14 artificial teeth mounted on a foundation with gum-colored material. A correct fit is crucial since the base will cover the palate and gums. If the dentures are fitted incorrectly, they irritate the gums and fall out. Additionally, your bone quality might not be up to par, necessitating additional treatments. Which are:

Alveoloplasty

This treatment modifies the jaw’s bone’s contour to ensure the fixings are secure. Additionally, Alveoloplasty offers the greatest surface area possible to enhance retention.

Bone Grafting

Bone grafting is used when a patient’s jawbone quality is insufficient to support dentures or when their jawbone density is less than required. A bone transplant is necessary for this operation on the patient’s jaw to increase support and retention.
