Port St Lucie Dentures | Why Tooth Loss Happens

Neglect is one of the many reasons why some people have to deal with tooth loss. Our teeth are meant to last a lifetime but also due to a combination of tooth decay, anxiety, finances, and gum disease, it happens. The infection and pain become unbearable that only then, some people would decide to have their teeth removed and replaced. Being unable to eat and chew properly due to missing teeth, you need to get Port St Lucie dentures to make chewing comfortable again.

Why Wear Dentures?

When you lose several teeth, you will also lose your chewing ability. You will only be able to stick to softer food and basically, no fruits, nuts, or crunchy vegetables, which is unfortunate. Fruits and vegetables are the best healthiest source of vitamins and minerals. If you are not getting the necessary nourishment you need, this will greatly affect your overall health. With dentures, you will be able to eat healthily and normally again. Your speaking ability will greatly improve as well as you now have a full set of teeth to improve your pronunciation.

Risk Factors of Tooth Loss

Tooth loss happens due to several factors but it always starts with bad oral hygiene. Here are some more reasons people chose not to see their dentist that eventually leads to poor oral health.

  • Financial
  • People did not care much about their appearance
  • Some people were uninformed or ignorant about the need to take care of their teeth
  • Juvenile periodontitis (gum disease that is difficult to control and people can lose all their teeth from this)
  • People were NOT interested about prevention
  • Diets high in acidic and sugary food
  • Bulimia

Mouth Infections Linked to Dentures

  • Cheilitis – A painful infection that causes inflammation and cracking at the corners of your mouth. It is caused by an overgrowth of yeast and this happens if your dentures don’t fit properly as yeast can accumulate in moist areas of your mouth.
  • Stomatitis – Another infection caused by too much yeast. Noticeable symptoms are small red bumps on the roof of your mouth, especially under your upper dentures.
