Top Benefits of a Regular Dental Checkup

Who is the best Dentist Indian River?

Has it been too long since you last saw your dentist in Indian River? Skipping dental appointments is never a good idea. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), you should see the dentist at least once or twice a year to get your teeth professionally cleaned. Let’s look deeper into the benefits of getting a regular dental checkup.

How Can Regular Dental Checkups Benefit You?

Tooth Decay Prevention

Professional teeth cleaning treatment removes all traces of plaque and tartar that could potentially lead to tooth decay. Getting your teeth examined and professionally cleaned every six months allows your dentist to catch early signs of tooth decay. Skipping your dental appointments will give the decay enough time to spread to the entire tooth and possibly others.

Gum Disease Prevention

Early gum disease called gingivitis has symptoms that include red, swollen, and bleeding gums. Without proper treatment, the infection can progress to a more serious condition called periodontitis. At this stage, you’ll lose your soft tissue and bone, which are responsible for holding your teeth in place. Aside from catching and treating the earliest signs of gum disease, regular visits to your dentist will also give you ample opportunities to receive advice on dental health and infection prevention.

Teeth Stain Removal

When professional cleanings are done twice a year, your teeth are kept at their brightest! The entire process can provide your pearly whites with a much deeper cleaning than regular brushing and flossing. One of the best things about seeing a professional is removing stains and preventing permanent tooth discoloration.

Fresh-Smelling Breath

Did you know that brushing alone won’t be enough to get rid of plaque and tartar? Another benefit of regular dental checkups is the assurance that your breath remains fresh. As your dentist deep cleans your teeth, traces of plaque and bacteria that cause your breath to stink will be eliminated.

Oral Cancer Screening

Like other cancers, oral cancer is most responsive at its earliest stages. Your dentist will check your mouth for anything unusual during your dental appointments before giving you’re the all-clear.
