What You Should Know About Digital X-Rays

Who is the best St Lucie County Dentist?

Facts About Digital X-rays You Should Know

They’re Extremely Safe

If you’re conscious about your health, it’s only natural to be concerned about radiation exposure. With digital x-rays, you won’t have to worry about your safety. Compared to traditional x-rays, they reduce radiation emission by up to 80%. What’s more, dental x-rays are known to emit less radiation than all other types of medical x-rays.

They’re Environmental-Friendly

Since digital x-rays don’t require the use of chemicals to develop film x-rays, they’re safer for the environment than traditional x-rays.

They’re Convenient

Digital x-rays produce images that can be seen in the treatment room monitors. This means that your dentist won’t have to wait to make an immediate evaluation. Additionally, digital x-rays make it easier for your dental healthcare provider to store and access the images securely in your digital chart.

They Can Save You Time and Money

Although your dentist can diagnose various conditions with a visual exam, they can’t always see what’s going on below your gumline or beneath your tooth enamel. However, digital x-rays help them perform a thorough assessment, make an early diagnosis, and provide immediate treatment.

Moreover, x-rays are a good investment in your oral health because they cost less compared to complex restorative dentistry procedures. They allow your dentist to address issues such as decay, bone loss, and infection before they become painful or critical will cause you to save time and money.

Experts Recommend Yearly X-rays

Did you know that the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends yearly x-rays to evaluate your bone, gums, and teeth and identify certain conditions that may potentially put your oral health at risk? However, if you have a history of losing teeth or gum disease, your dentist may have to schedule x-rays more frequently.
