What’s an Interdental Brush and Why Do You Need One?

Dentist in Indian River Explains Interdental Brushes

Oral health is an important aspect of life. Pain in your teeth or mouth can cause trouble eating, speech difficulties, and lead to even more dangerous infections. And to ensure a good healthy smile, besides regular visits with a dentist in Indian River, the key to optimal health lies in having proper oral hygiene.

Interdental brushes are an effective tool for cleaning your teeth and maintaining a beautiful smile. In this article, we’ll explain the benefits of this tool and who it is ideal for.

Dentist in Indian River Explains Benefits of Interdental Brushes

What’s an Interdental Brush?

Interdental brushes are smaller and thinner than regular toothbrushes. They clean the spaces between teeth and the gum line of debris, preventing the accumulation of plaque, a major cause of periodontal disease and tooth decay.

They are an extremely useful addition to your oral hygiene regimen because they can reach spaces that a standard toothbrush cannot. However, with only minimal pressure, the brush should slide easily into the space between your teeth.

If it seems like you are forcing it, you should try a smaller size.

Who Needs an Interdental Brush?

Interdental brushes can significantly improve dental health when incorporated into a regular oral hygiene regimen, and they work particularly well for people with gum disease.

In fact, some studies have shown that interdental brushes are even more effective than dental floss in removing plaque and improving gingival health.

Interdental brushes offer numerous benefits. They are easy to use and can reach small spaces, making them a valuable addition for patients trying to ensure the cleanliness necessary to combat gum disease. Nothing can replace the effectivity of periodontal therapy, though.
