How Dental Implants Work: Step-by-Step Guide_Smooth Sailing Dental

Dental Implants restore missing teeth by placing a titanium post into the jawbone, creating a strong foundation for a natural-looking replacement tooth.

Understanding how dental implants work can help patients feel more confident about choosing this long-term tooth replacement option. Many patients considering Port St. Lucie Dental Implants want to know what happens during the process and how implants restore both function and appearance.

Step 1: Consultation and Evaluation

The process begins with a dental exam to assess your oral health, bone structure, and treatment needs. X-rays or scans may be taken to determine if the jawbone can support an implant. This step helps create a personalized treatment plan.

Step 2: Implant Placement

A small titanium post is surgically placed into the jawbone where the missing tooth used to be. This post acts as an artificial tooth root and provides a stable foundation for the replacement tooth.

Step 3: Healing and Bone Integration

Over the next few months, the implant naturally fuses with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This creates a strong and stable base that mimics a natural tooth root.

Step 4: Crown Placement

Once healing is complete, a custom-made crown is attached to the implant. The crown is designed to match your natural teeth in shape and color for a seamless smile.
