How to Care for Dentures So They Last Longer

Smiling senior woman with dentures, dentures in Treasure Coast

Dentures in Treasure Coast can bring back confidence in your smile and make everyday life easier. Just like natural teeth, dentures need proper care to remain in great condition. With the right habits, you can protect your investment and enjoy a comfortable fit for years to come.

Daily Habits for Healthy Dentures

Clean Them Gently

Use a soft-bristled brush and a non-abrasive cleanser designed for dentures. Avoid regular toothpaste, as it can be too harsh and may cause scratches.

Soak Overnight

Dentures need moisture to maintain their shape. Place them in plain water or a dentist-recommended solution each night.

Handle With Care

When removing or cleaning your dentures, hold them over a folded towel or a sink filled with water to prevent damage if dropped.

Proper handling is just the start—consistent daily maintenance is equally important:

  • Brush daily to remove food and plaque
  • Rinse dentures after meals
  • Schedule regular dental checkups
  • Store them safely in a clean container

Watch for Changes

If dentures start to feel loose, cause sore spots, or make eating difficult, don’t wait. Call your dentist to check the fit. Small adjustments can prevent bigger issues.
