Facts About Fluoride Application

where is the best treasure coast dentist?

Did you know that fluoride is a mineral naturally found in water and different types of foods? Your Treasure Coast dentist will tell you that when acids form from plaque, sugars, and bacteria in your mouth, your enamel is being attacked through the process of demineralization. To address this, you’ll have to redeposit minerals such as calcium, phosphate, and fluoride to your enamel via remineralization.

Facts About Fluoride Application You Should Know

Water with Fluoride is Good for Your Teeth

Drinking water with fluoride can help you keep your teeth healthy because it rinses away sugar and acids from the food and beverages you consume. If you want to prevent tooth decay, you should keep this in mind.

Fluoride in Toothpaste and Varnish Protect Your Teeth

To ensure the best protection from tooth decay, be sure to get fluoride from various sources – including your toothpaste. You and your children who are at least three years old can get fluoride at a low cost if you brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. After you’re done brushing, spit out the toothpaste but don’t rinse to get the most out of its fluoride content.

Additionally, you can also choose to get professional fluoride treatments, such as varnish, to provide you with extra protection. It will only take less than a minute for your dentist to paint fluoride varnish on your teeth.

Fluoride May Reverse Early Signs of Tooth Decay

No matter what age you are, this natural mineral can help you make sure that your teeth stay healthy and strong. If you’re showing early signs of tooth decay, fluoride may be able to reverse them.
