What Are the Health Benefits of Getting Dental Implants?

color matching Dental Implants Fort Pierce

If you’re missing a tooth or several teeth, you’re not alone. Statistics show that an average American adult loses at least one tooth within their lifetime. Thankfully, dental implants in Fort Pierce provide a healthy and long-lasting tooth replacement option for adults of all ages regardless of how they lost their tooth.

Health Benefits of Dental Implants

They Maintain Your Facial Structure and Stimulate Your Jaw Bone

The longer your missing tooth remains unreplaced, the more bone tissue you’ll lose. As your jaw bone loses density, the structure of your face changes. Dental implants replace the roots of your missing teeth and mimic their ability to stimulate bone tissue, prevent bone loss, and maintain your facial structure.

They Prevent Gum Disease

Besides bone loss, missing teeth can also cause your gums to recede and develop pockets around your existing teeth where bacteria can grow. While dentures and bridges can replace missing teeth, they often provide more hard-to-reach areas where bacteria can easily build up.

Since dental implants securely anchor to your jaw bone, they’re the closest thing to your natural teeth. Compared to other tooth replacement options, they’re easier to clean and they reduce your risk of infection and gum disease.

They Restore Your Chewing Power

Chewing nutrient-dense foods can be challenging even when you’re missing one tooth. When dietary staples that include fruits, vegetables, and proteins are removed from your daily diet, your body won’t get the nutrition it requires. Maintaining a poor diet of soft and processed food can lead to weight gain, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

Alternatively, choosing to replace your missing teeth with stable and permanent dental implants makes it easier for you to eat nutritious foods and minimize your chances of developing serious health issues over time.

They Boost Your Mental Health

Dental implants can give you a healthy and beautiful smile that boosts your confidence and self-esteem. Unlike other options, they look, feel, fit, and function like your natural teeth.
