Everything You Need to Know About Dentures

Types of Dentures

The two types of dentures that dentists often recommend are full and partial dentures. Your dentist will likely recommend complete dentures if you have lost all of your teeth. This denture will help you eat, speak, and instantly restore your smile after installation.

On the other hand, partial dentures are artificial teeth designed to replace a few missing or damaged teeth. This type of denture is appropriate for patients who still have a lot of natural teeth left that aren’t afflicted with cavities or tooth decay. They’re a fantastic substitute for dental implants because they’re inexpensive and non-intrusive.

How Are Dentures Made?

Dentures are made within a few weeks to a month, depending on your dentist or prosthodontist. To give you a bird’s eye view of what happens during the initial stages, here are the general steps to make dentures.

  • The patient will have a general checkup to assess their oral health
  • Several impressions will be taken from the patient to make the denture
  • The denture will be assessed for color, quality, and shape before casting
  • Final attachment and adjustments
