Signs Your Denture Needs Replacement or Repair

Signs Your Vero Beach Dentures Need Repair

Dentures are removable replacements for natural teeth. For years, our Vero Beach dentures have been a reliable and effective solution that allows patients with severe tooth loss to recover their chewing and spelling functionalities and live their daily lives to the fullest.

Sadly, while acrylic resin and metal are highly resistant, they’re not invincible. Accidents, improper hygiene, or the simple wear-and-tear of chewing can damage your dentures, requiring repairs or entire replacements in a worst-case scenario.

Here are some signs to look out for to identify that.

Fix Your Vero Beach Dentures

3 Signs Your Denture Needs Attention

1. General Discomfort and Difficulty Chewing

Dentures should be comfortable to wear and never cause any discomfort in the mouth. However, uneven pressure, soreness, pain, or looseness could lead to difficulties chewing and even the development of sores over time.

Discomfort is a sign that the dentures are no longer right for you. Luckily, an adjustment or reline can often solve the problem.

2. Broken or Detached Parts

As much as you take care of your dentures, accidents can happen. Dropping them is not an uncommon occurrence. As a result, a tooth may come loose. Instead of attempting to attach it by yourself, take it to a professional for repair.

Home-fixes can be unsuccessful, leading to even more costly repairs afterward, and could leave unwanted spaces between the loose tooth and denture, which is a key area for bacteria and plaque to grow.

3. Small Cracks

When a tooth is damaged, it can simply develop a crack or a chip rather than breaking away from the entire set. You might still be able to wear your dentures, but this chip poses a risk of unintentionally cutting your oral tissues and serves as a haven for bacteria.
