Treasure Coast Dentures | 5 Denture Myths Debunked

Treasure Coast Dentures are considered to be one of the most common ways to replace your missing tooth or teeth. A lot of people have been opting for this restorative solution, so at some point in your life, you may have heard things about it. Whether that information is good or bad, it is important to do your research to avoid any misconceptions. Here are some denture myths debunked:

They Last Forever

Dentures are durable but they do not last a lifetime. The most you can get from your dentures is 10 years. In most cases, people often replace them every 6-8 years.

Dentures Do Not Look Natural

Dentures are custom-made to fit you. This means that the color, shape, and fit is created to blend in with the rest of your teeth and smile. In situations wherein your dentures have become loose, that is when they begin to look and feel unnatural.

It is Difficult to Speak or Eat with Dentures

If you just got your dentures, you may need practice getting used to them when speaking and talking. But after a while of getting used to it, you will be able to speak and eat normally.

I Need to Put Denture Adhesives Everyday so They Will Fit

Dentures are custom-made to fit you comfortably and perfectly so there is no need for denture adhesives. If you feel like you need to use adhesives so they fit you better, you might want to see a dentist to have them readjusted or replaced. Constant and extended use of adhesives can cause infections and bone loss in the jaw.

I Do Not have to Take Care of Them

Although dentures are artificial and won’t decay they are still susceptible to damage. Bad oral hygiene can affect its wearability and eating hard foods could also cause them to break. If you want them to last, practice good oral hygiene and be mindful of the things you chew on.
