What Happens at Your First Dental Implant Appointment

Health Check

First things first, the dentist will chat with you about your medical and dental history. They’ll ask about any health conditions, medications, and past dental treatments to make sure implants are a safe choice for you.

Mouth Exam and X-rays

Next, it’s time for a thorough look at your mouth. The dentist will examine your gums, teeth, and overall oral health. You’ll likely get some X-rays or a 3D scan so they can see your jawbone clearly. This helps them figure out if there’s enough bone to hold an implant.

Talking Treatment Options

After the exam, the dentist will go over their findings with you. They’ll explain if you’re a good candidate for implants and what the treatment plan might look like. This includes how many implants you might need, the type of implants, and if you’ll need any extra procedures like bone grafting.

Costs and Timing

Money talk is important too. The dentist will break down the costs, covering everything from the implants to the surgery and any prep work. They’ll also give you an idea of the timeline, from the first surgery to the final tooth.

Ask Away

Got questions? This is the perfect time to ask them. Whether you’re wondering about the surgery, recovery, or anything else, don’t hold back. Your dentist is there to help you feel informed and at ease.
