Tim was born and raised in Malone, NY. Upon graduation from high school, he immediately entered the U.S. Navy, where he served for 21 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander in 1998. Upon his military retirement, Tim continued to work in the aviation and oil/mining/gas industries in Perth, Western Australia, as a technical support/services and human resource manager. Moving to Florida, he worked in areas of administrative support, recruiting, training, and executive assisting before becoming Dr. Long’s practice administrator in April 2017. Tim received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Personnel Management at National University, San Diego, California, in 1986 and his Master of Health Counseling Degree at Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia, in 2008.

Furthermore, Tim is a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, where he and his wife Rebecca attend. He also enjoys biblical studies, running, food, and spending time with family and friends.
Cheri has been working in the dental field for nearly 30 years. She has been working with Dr. Long for the past 17 years. Originally from Poughquag, NY, she now makes her home in Port St. Lucie.
Cheri enjoys being a member of the dental profession. Starting out as an “on the job” trained dental assistant for the first three years, she soon discovered that she liked the challenge of administrative duties more.
She co-owned a dental practice for 8 years. During this time, she developed an appreciation for the complexities involved in managing a financially successful business practice and developing a good rapport with crew professionals and patients.
Cheri enjoys dealing with patients in a positive and caring environment. Her many talents include helping them with their treatment plans, scheduling, and insurance.
In her spare time, she loves kayaking, reading, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Patty has worked in the dental field, both as a dental assistant and front desk, since 1979. She moved from Massapequa Park, NY in March 1989 and started working shortly thereafter in Vero Beach. This is where she and her husband raised their 3 children and are proud to call home.
You will find Patty at the front desk always willing to help you with your treatment plans, insurance questions and making appointments.
On her days off she likes to do crafts, paint, sing Karaoke and watch their beautiful granddaughter.
Maria was born and raised in Fort Pierce. She and her husband Lee have 3 children: Thomas, Jill and step daughter Randi; 4 grandchildren and 1 on the way.
Maria has worked in the dental field for over 20 years in many positions, ranging from office management to chair side assistance.
In her spare time, Maria enjoys relaxing on the beach, working in her yard and spending time with her family and friends.
Julie is an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. Her main focus has been to assist Dr. Long with all dental procedures in a caring and professional manner. She has done that for the last 28 years, as well as serving as the Hazard Communication Coordinator for the past 25 years.
Julie attributes her lengthy employment to loving the work she does and enjoying the diverse people from our community. She enjoys the stories they share about their lives. She has great skills in helping patients overcome their dental phobias. She listens intently to each one and tries her best to make their dental experience as she would want. Julie says that this is only possible with a great leader and crew and that the leadership of Dr. Long has been one of excellence and superior dental artistry, which enable excellent patient care. She adds further that the crew is awesome, possessing many advanced skills.
Julie’s education began long ago, before wearing protective gloves! Yes, she says, we went in with our bare hands! She grew up in San Jose, California. In 1975, during her junior year of high school, she had the opportunity to attend a Vocational School for Dental Assisting. She went on to other fields of study but returned to Dental Assisting in 1979. She then attended San Jose City College and enrolled in the Expanded Functions Dental Assisting Program, graduating in 1981.
When Julie is not working, she loves going on long walks with her husband and cooking with him. She loves spending time with her grown children and 2-year-old granddaughter. She is a member of Grace Family Church, PSL and considers them truly as family.
Mira resides in Ft. Pierce with her husband, Mike. Her family roots in Ft. Pierce go back to the early 1900’s in both citrus and vegetable industries. She has two daughters and a step-son, all of whom are full-grown. She also has two grandsons and two dogs (fur-children).
Mira studied Dental Assisting at Indian River State College. She has been working for Dr. Long since 1992. The greatest enjoyment of her profession is being able to learn different ways to achieve even better results on the same procedures. She appreciates the unique and special qualities of every patient.
Mira is also passionate about giving back to the community. She serves on the board of directors for “Royal Palms” – an organization that serves the needs of women and children in St. Lucie County and has since 2002.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and being by the ocean.
Yeni is an Expanded Function Dental Assistant. She was born in La Habana, Cuba and moved to Miami, FL at the age of ten, where she lived most of her life. She now resides in Port St. Lucie, FL with her husband Sandy and four children, two boys and two girls.
She remembers having had very low access to adequate dental care when growing up in her country, and because of this, her professional mission in life is to become a source of help and encouragement for those patients that are in need of dental treatment. She feels happy and excited to be part of the Smooth Sailing Dental family, working and building a solid career path in what she absolutely loves to do.
Yeni graduated from the Indian River State College in 2018. While at IRSC, Yeni was recognized by receiving the Academic Award for Exceptional Academic Performance of her graduating class. She is also National Board certified.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, boating or just being a busy mom.
Yeni is fluent in both English and Spanish languages.
A true Florida native, Ann was born and raised in Fort Pierce. She was a patient of Dr. Long as a teenager, until she began her career in dentistry in 2002, as an assistant at the St. Lucie County Health Department with approximately 30 volunteer dentists.
Ann then attended IRSC’s Expanded Function Dental Assisting Courses before working at a general practice with a denture clinic for 14 years. Most recently, she also trained with a prosthodontist who used digital dentistry in the specialty of restoring and replacing teeth.
Ann devotes her spare time to her 8-year-old son, Michael. She really enjoys being a “Boy Mom”, and spending time in the woods and in the water.
Kellie is originally from Lakewood, Ohio, but grew up in Ft. Pierce. She graduated from John Carroll High School and received her Associate of Science in Hygiene from Indian River State College. She was Certified by the State of Florida as a Dental Hygienist in 1994.
Kellie has been employed by Dr. Long since 1994, which is nearly half her life. She often reflects on passing his office on her way to IRSC and thinking that the architecture of the office was intriguing. Who knew that one day she would work there.
Kellie is married to Shane Wyatt and they have two children, Ashlyn 17 and Riley 14. She loves being a soccer and volleyball mom and volunteer. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, spending time with friends and family, and taking in our lovely coastal activities.
Kellie played an active role in establishing the new practice name “Smooth Sailing Dental”. She is dedicated to patient education and providing thorough cleanings.
Donna was born and raised right here in historic Ft. Pierce, FL and is married to Tody, also a Ft. Pierce native and they have a 17-year-old son, Hunter.
She graduated from Indian River State College Dental Hygiene Program in 1999 and has been treating and educating patients on proper oral health care in Dr. Long’s office for over 18 years. While at IRSC, Donna was recognized by receiving the Academic Excellence Award, as well as the Golden Scaler Award for Best Clinician in her graduating class.
In her free time, Donna is also a busy 4-H Mom, who also enjoys cooking, the outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends.
Barbara is originally from Riverside, Connecticut. She pursued her desire to work in the dental field by receiving her dental hygiene degree in 1991 from Fones School of Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.
She has been working with Dr. Long for over eighteen years and is licensed in both the state of Florida and the state of Connecticut. Barbara is a true “jack of all trades” for the practice. She wears many hats in the office and can tell you anything about everything because her interests and abilities are many and varied!
When she is not elbows deep in the oral cavity, Barbara enjoys spending time with her four grown children and granddaughter, traveling, reading, tinkering with home renovation, and cake decorating. She is new to the sport of running, having just completed four half marathon races in six months.
Barbara currently resides in Port St. Lucie with her husband, David.
You may not know it, but Christina has worked for Dr. Long behind the scenes since 2010. In fact, she has known Dr. Long her entire life as he is both her dentist and her Dad! Christina was born in Fort Pierce and raised on the Treasure Coast. She graduated from Lynn University in 2008 and completed her MBA at Lynn in 2010. Christina is the Social Media Consultant for Smooth Sailing Dental. She enjoys sharing the fun side of Dentistry, including giving an insight into the busy lives of our staff through her posts.
She is a member of Toastmasters where she hones her public speaking and leadership skills. Christina is the Hospitaller for the Vero Beach Area Knights and Dames of Malta where she made a lifetime commitment to serve the Sick and Poor and Defend the Faith. As a member of the Order of Malta, she volunteers at the Hope for Families Center and Our Father’s Table Soup Kitchen. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling (she studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland during her junior year in college), swimming, movies, and spending time with family and friends.
